Separate backplate to R9 290/290x reference card water blocks, that provide additional cooling of the graphics card's backside RAM and enhanced stability of the assembly.
The backplate is not a "must have" to cool the grapics card, as the waterblock in itself is more than enough, but recommended for those who want to have a little extra performance.
The backplate provides a nice last touch to a setup of any kind.
